Small group tips
Thanks for joining. These small groups are a big part of both learning about us and getting the vibe since the entire interview process is online.
Tech
The main fails will be Wifi, device and audio lag.
I suggest using you personal phone or laptop.
Turn your the video on.
Consider calling in separately on a landline for audio
(Zoom audio is very good if you have good Wifi)
Zoom tips
Note, you will first join a waiting room at first and then be admitted.
Type your full name into Zoom since the applicants do not know you.
Classroom
Our classroom hardware had issues yesterday.
I think it should work with dial in audio.
If you plan to use the classroom, let Mia or Janet know today.
Main goals
Key
At the hour, Mia, Janet, and I will say a quick welcome then turn it over for small group discussion sessions.
Each will be about 20 mins. Each will have a topic. Each will have an attending, a resident, and all six applicants.
The morning and afternoon sessions are different applicants.
When a new set of attending and residents joins the zoom, the prior two can leave.
A little banter between you in the overlap is encouraged to show our camaraderie.
The applicants will be noticing the vibe between attendings and residents and between sessions.
Important
In each 20 min session, deliberately have every applicant speak or ask a question. It's more enjoyable if everyone is included and gets to speak.
More
You will not be grading the applicants. This is just a chance for them to meet more us and learn more about us.
The topics are just suggestions to give you guidance on what to talk about if there is silence. You can talk about anything.
